This week our guest is John Immel. He is the Founder of the leading Ayurvedic dieting website JoyfulBelly.com. He is also Director of the Joyful Belly Diet and Digestion Clinic in Asheville, NC. John promotes practical Ayurveda at diverse locations locally and nationally. He studied Ayurveda under Dr. Vasant Lad and in India.
John started his career with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Harvard University. He first discovered Ayurveda while working on public health and service projects in South Asia & the Middle East. He studied the language and culture of Bangladesh over ten years and is fluent in Bengali. He is also a student of Sanskrit, Arabic, French, and Spanish.
On a personal note, John says, “Cooking is an integral part of health and the heart of a happy home. Disease forces people to look outside themselves for answers. Cooking brings these discoveries home into our daily lives, in a gentle and life giving way. When I returned home from South Asia, I came to love my new home in the mountains of Appalachia. I also wanted to bring Ayurveda home to America. Using the ingredients familiar from my childhood, I created Joyful Belly to recast Ayurveda in the context of our American traditions. Joyful Belly proves Ayurveda is easy and fun. This simple, practical and familiar approach has helped thousands on their journey to health.”
Tune in at 1pm PT Wednesday to find out how you can have a joyful belly!
