This week our guest is Michele Rosenthal. She is an award winning Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) blogger, speaker, poet, post-trauma coach, and radio talk show host. Michele inspires and motivates survivors to make the shift from powerless to powerful. A trauma survivor who struggled with PTSD for over twenty-five years, today Michele joyfully lives 100% free of PTSD symptoms. She is the founder of www.HealMyPTSD.com and sits on the board of Hope4PTSDvets.org and St. Clair Butterfly Foundation. She holds a B.A. in English and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.F.A. in Poetry from Vermont College. Michele is the host of YOUR LIFE AFTER TRAUMA on Seaview Radio. Michele has been featured in such places as Ladies’ Home Journal, St. Petersburg Times, Orlando Sentinel, CBS Radio and The Dennis Miller Show. She is the author of, “BEFORE THE WORLD INTRUDED: Conquering the Past and Creating the Future, A Memoir.”
Michele says, “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a normal reaction to an abnormal experience. After a trauma life can become full of post-traumatic stress as a survivor experiences Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms, including nightmares, insomnia, flashbacks, rage, emotional numbing, hypervigiliance, hyperarousal, depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and avoidance.
If these PTSD symptoms describe you or someone you know don’t despair – you’re not alone. While we are each individual in our trauma, we are universal in our PTSD experience. With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder causes ranging from natural disasters to terrorism to war to life-altering illness to domestic, sexual and child abuse, the PTSD survivor crowd is large, diverse, global and always growing. The good news is, a range Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment options exist. PTSD is a disorder, not a disease. Recent research suggests up to 90% of all cases are wholly treatable.
I struggled with undiagnosed PTSD for 24 years — and then I was diagnosed and went on a healing rampage! Today, I am 100% PTSD-free.”
To find out how Michele healed and how the resources and community she has built can help you tune in on Wednesday at 1pmPT.
