Inspiring Lessons Learned From People Living With Cancer
This is my site Posted on | September 3, 2009 | Comments Off

Bernie_Siegel_1bBernie Siegel broke new ground with his monumental book Love, Medicine, and Miracles, in which he explored the powerful role the mind can play in fighting illness. Sharing stories of seriously ill patients who survived against the odds and those who seemed to give in to their own deaths, the book inspired countless readers to consider the possibilities of thinking themselves well. Bernie believed–and still does–that the power to heal comes from the human mind through will, determination, and love. Over the last 20 years, his philosophy and advice have led many physicians and other healthcare professionals to help patients participate in and influence their own recovery.

After many years working in hospice and end of life in critical care settings, I came to the same conclusions Dr. Siegel writes about so eloquently. I was ecstatic to pick up his latest book, Faith Hope and Healing: Inspiring Lessons Book CoverLearned from People Living with Cancer and to see Bernie’s comments. So much of what I teach at Fern Life Center (www.FernLifeCenter.com) is centered on empowering people to take charge of their own health through taking charge of what happens in the mind. I agree with his prediction that in the next decade the role of consciousness, spirituality, non-local healing, body memory and heart energy will all be explored as scientific subjects.

In Faith, Hope, and Healing, Bernie Siegel shares the inspiring stories of people who have experienced cancer and found deeper faith, hope, joy, and healing through the process. Join me Sept. 9th on Healthy YOU! Radio at 9 am on KKNW 1150 AM and listen to Dr. Siegel encourage and help our listeners to develop an attitude and personality that survivors share. We will be offering myriad ways to get through difficult times and discover the gifts that illness can bring into a person’s life. What do people’s experiences tell us about our common strengths and humanity and how to live an authentic, fulfilling life?
