This week’s guest is Ani Phyo. She is on a mission to show the world that eating healthy doesn’t have to mean forcing down boring salads every day. An award-winning raw foods chef, Ani uses seasonal, local, organic, fresh produce coupled with nuts and seeds to create tantalizing recipes that are delicious, lowers cholesterol, helps to lose unwanted pounds, boosts the immune system and promotes a healthy planet.
The author of four popular cookbooks: “Ani’s Raw Food Asia”, ”Ani’s Raw Food Essentials”, ”Ani’s Raw Food Desserts”, and “Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen (awarded “Best Vegetarian Cookbook USA 2007″), Ani has quickly become the go-to girl on healthy living using fresh, whole and raw food ingredients. She is the recipient of four Best of Raw 2008 and 2009 Awards for Best Chef, Favorite Cookbook and Favorite Educator. She has also won Sexiest Raw Vegan Woman for both 2008 and 2009 and 2010.
While healthy eating and being green has recently become a major part of the American lexicon, it has always been a part of Anis life. Growing up in upstate New York, Anis family had their own organic farm where she was raised on fresh, green juices and seasonal produce. It was her parents passion and commitment to eating and preparing whole foods cultivated the relationship Ani maintains with food today.
Ani hosts “Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen Show”, the award-winning #1 uncooking show on ‘YouTube’. She has appeared on the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, San Francisco’s View From the Bay featuring Spencer Christian and NBC New York’s LX New York, and Better with Audra Lowe. She has also been featured in numerous magazines including Food & Wine, Food Network, Alternative Medicine, Oxygen, VegNews, Delicious Living, Vegetarian Times, and Get Fresh.
