When we talk about health, we are not just talking about the physical body. There are really four overall categories of health: mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. Each of these areas needs to be developed and healthy for someone to have an experience of wellness. At Healthy You! our goal each week is to empower you in these key areas with the information and resources you need to experience optimum health.

n753778862_9282This week we are focusing on “emotional health.” Our mind and body are inextricably linked and if we are emotionally overwhelmed, overloaded, upset or stressed out there are consequences for our physical health. We are excited to bring you Dr. David Daniels as our guest for this week’s show. Dr. Daniels is a clinical professor of psychiatry at Stanford University Medical School and also one of the world’s foremost developers and teachers of a system called, “The Enneagram.” He is also co-founder, along with Helen Palmer, of Enneagram Worldwide, one of the leading schools for teaching the enneagram system. His best-selling book, “The Essential Enneagram”,  has just been revised, update, and republished with the latest information about this remarkable system.

The enneagram can be an extremely valuable tool for managing our emotional health, because it shows us a wEssential Enneagram cover.croppedJPGay to develop an inner witness and self-awareness around our habits of thought and patterns of emotion. Over a lifetime we have all developed deeply ingrained ways of reacting to life that are mostly unconscious. While many of us have developed some self-awareness through a variety of means, (self-help books, therapy, coaching, etc), the enneagram shows us that there are really 9 core strategies that humans use to navigate through life experience. By using this system we can come to understand what our personal strategy is – both the gifts and challenges – and also how to find practices and techniques that are appropriate for our personal development.

So join us this week and hear Dr. Daniels illuminate this fascinating system.

To your health!
